For his part, Chris Sale’s outing began with a four pitch walk to Matt Vierling, and then he missed with four straight to Javy Báez as well. Spencer Turnbull had a nifty first inning, using just nine pitches. Unfortunately, the bats went ice cold after the early innings and the Red Sox got to the Tigers’ bullpen to spoil the party by a score of 6-3. The Tigers were in the driver’s seat early on in their home opener.
